BIRD SHOOTING AREAS News Flash link!!! Bird hunting areas, commonly known as "blocks" are on average about 400 sq. miles in size. A maximum of 8 shooters may be booked into one block. To be sure of getting the best blocks at the right time of year it is advisable to confirm your booking at least six months in advance. We normally choose shooting areas in South-East Kenya about 100 miles south of Nairobi, but at certain seasons more northerly locations maybe preferable. LOCATIONS Camps are usually set up under shady,
picturesque acacia trees. Our preferred site is not far from Amboseli national
park. This part of Kenya is mostly acacia savannah, lying at an altitude of
3,500-4,000ft. and has a pleasant,
moderate climate (July and August are the coolest months). There are fine views of Mount
Kilimanjaro, and animals including giraffe, impala, zebra and wildebeest are plentiful
providing good wildlife-viewing for non-shooters. In addition to the wildlife which can be
seen around camp there are large herds of elephant, buffalo and other species in
nearby Amboseli National Park an easy day trip. Our safaris into these areas have invariably
been successful and enjoyable largely because we know the region well. We adhere strictly
to bag limits and maintain good relationships with both the wildlife department and the
local Masai people.
